This is one of the best US punk records of the late '80s, mostly because it mixes in many post-punk influences and innovates where other punks cling to tradition. The two guitars rarely play similar parts, there are dynamics and mood settings, contemplative sound ("Whisper in the Wind") and even a Killing Joke tribal backbeat ("When It's Over").
Tracklist:
1) Edge Of Forever
2) What I See
3) Whisper In The Wind
4) Beautiful World (But Not For Me)
5) California Dreamin'
6) When It's Over
7) Time To Change
8) It Follows Me
9) Whatever Happened
10) It's Hard To Say Your Wrong
11) Broken
12) Out Of Control

I love most of the stuff you post but, I'm sorry, this album is just weak. What you call post-punk influences I just call sucky new wave.
The SoCal punk rock sound is my favorite but MIA have even less of an edge than the later Agent Orange albums...it's not fast enough and it's not edgy enough. I couldn't listen to the this entire album 15 years ago and I had to press the stop button just again.
this is incredible. I never knew about this record. sounds awesome. One thing about MIA — they had a great singer. Thanks!
Thanks so much for this!
ANy other MIA records available out there besides the collection on AT?
I love this album, words just can't describe.....for Husker Du fans, this is for you
fantastic blog...and this album has been a real pleasure to listen to...if you have any more MIA you can post I'm sure a whole bunch of us would be real glad. Take care and all the best!
Now to complement this please post N.O.T.A. 12" EP of "Toy Soldiers" or the blue N.O.T.A. LP.
This Blog is the shit! thanks please visit mine.
Thanks once again your saving me major hassle time. I don't care what people say I still have this LP. I bought it brand new and I though it was great. R.I.P. Mike. Oh, and fuck the news media for the slander they laid on him that day. I haven't flipped on 'any' news since that day.
