Nig-Heist "S/T"

Born in the early 1980's (as with Jesus Hisself their birth date is more open to conjecture than the actual date of their demise...until now), Nig-Heist took an early place among the groups of loftier inentions.

As an Artist and a gentleman, and lead singer, Mugger is acknowledged by all in the know to be one of the most exciting entertainers in show business today. A performer's performer, a professional's professional, and an ex-showgirl himself, he has musically delighted listeners and non-listeners (some pay him not just to listen but to "perform"), music-lovers and lovers alike, for years and years now (he could keep it up, but who's countin'? - smile).

The songs we included in this album are all established hits - or should be; and with the Nig-Heist, hits aren't hard to come by. All they have to do is step up to the microphone and Swing! Swing! Swing! Ty Cobb himself never broke so many records - hits n' singles galore! Too many to count, unless you're keeping score!

The borderline between pop and rock has always been a nebulous one. Frequently a group that has succeeded in appealing to one is rejected by the so-called experts (e.g., Joe Carducci), who claim the twain shall never (shout it loud!) never be met. The present set of performances will give pause (1, 2, 3, 4!...) to these authorities.

__________________________________________________

Time to testify to Japanese noise merchants Confuse! Some more excellent CD's I picked up while on tour in Japan. Classic elite hardcore. For all of you who know, you know what to do, for anyone who doesn't know this band...I highly recommend this piece of Japanese crust-laden punk noise grind death. Yet another CD that should be in the kitchen of every mother's household, mandatory tools for existence!

Here's a better description than I ever could've given, courtesy of KILL FROM THE HEART:

Not a lot is known about Confuse except they are the most widely bootlegged Japanese band, I think even outpacing GISM for the number of boots.

The first recordings of Confuse appear to be the stuff on the Spending Loud Night 7" (King's World Records). These recordings are ultraraw noisy thrash and are possibly from a demotape, but I haven't run across a trader that had this demo, although I have heard it was... This stuff is from 1983 and I think is a 4-track basement demo type of thing. The Indignation demo from 1984 is definitly a demo tape, I have seen two covers for this tape. More controlled noise but still outrageously fuzzed out and violent sounding. Later this year Confuse entered the studio for what I believe was the first time and produced the Nuclear Addicts flexi. This, as with the progression from the 1st demo to the 2nd demo, shows a less chaotic and more focused attack, but if you had never heard the demos and just this you'd be hard pressed to believe it. The flexi is a classic noisecore record, abrasive rough buzzsaw thrash a la Disorder but heavier. After this, Confuse appear on a compilation 8" called Jisatsu Omnibus and the three songs are a bit more rough sounding than Nuclear Addicts (some of them are rerecordings of older songs from the demos as well).

1985 saw Confuse record another 7" EP of material and the sound here is much cleaner and sharper than any other releases - dare I say poppy? Contempt for the Authority and Take off the Lie is catchy and bouncy as hell and almost unrecognizable from the last record. I suspect the influence of the Swankys' switch to their more '77 sound from Gai's full out Disorder noise attack was partially to blame for this. This is still a really good record by the way!

As far as I know this is the last thing they did until they did one track for a compilation record/cd called Neo in 1988. I am taking this from the info on the song list from their CD collection Old Master. I have never seen Neo or seen anyone with it on their trade list. It may not exist!

The last official Confuse record was released if I recall correctly in 1992, it's called Stupid Life and was recorded in 1989. It's their only 12" and is a bit of an odd record, it sounds like nothing else they did, but it's good though! I'm having a hard time explaining what it's like... It's almost like 70's rock in structure sometimes, I think.

This is where the Confuse story ends - not much story to it, I have never seen an interview with the guys or heard anecdotes about them, they are somewhat shrouded in mystery.

The Kids "30th Anniversary Reissue"

Belgian punks The Kids released one true "classic" punk rock album and went down in KBD history. Great song titles and great album covers. The band then released more material which ain't too shabby either. This CD came out as an anniversary issue but we think it's out of print for now. Highly recommended. Too cool for school KBD fashionisto's take note.

So enjoy the motherfucking Kids, and 30 years later they still have their say. If you can find this CD, buy it!

Really Red "Discography"

For all you weekend warriors here's a double fix of Really Red, as requested.

This is the discography CD that came out a while back.  Pretty sure it doesn't have everything in their repertoire but it has a large portion of what I recall and will definitely appease anyone that hasn't had the chance to listen to this in a while.   As I said it came out on CD but am pretty sure it's out of print.  "Teaching You The Fear" got reissued as well on another label which may be still in print, so grab it if you can.  No matter what you get the gist.

Obviously pick it up if you can find it, it's a classic piece of Texas trash.  Support the scene.

Track 1: Modern Needs 7"
Tracks 2-19: Teaching You the Fear LP
Tracks 20-24: New Strings For Old Puppets EP
Tracks 25-32: Rest in Pain LP (minus two songs)

Hypnotics "Indoor Fiends"

This immaculate record from these Californian punks hit the racks in '82 and is yet another nugget of punk history. Just pick any creepy song like "Kiddie Porn" or "Nazi Snotzy" and I think the first hit will do the fix. At least it did for me and still does, the same way the Lewd hit ya and in my opinion, the Hypnotics hit the same vein, just from another dealer. In the end, it's just good junk!

Enjoy this high octane punk fix.

The Damned "School Bullies"

'79 Live!!

The Damned played many secret gigs as The Doomed, Les Punks, and for this Moonlight Club gig in West Hampstead they played as The School Bullies. This contains one of my favorite tracks "Teenage Dream" which was one of the classic songs from Rat Scabies "White Cats" project. This CD is very dear to me for a lot of reasons...as a few of us will be leaving to tour soon, we're going to put up as much as we can before we leave. So this is the first one to set it off with a secret message.

Yet another classic Japanese punk rock band, that I'm sure many of you are well aware of. I had to the pick up the remastered and digipacked copy of this cd last time I was in Tokyo. Expensive as fuck, but with The Stalin it's worth it. I imagine it's pretty difficult to find over here as I've never seen it in any stores.

So to all you punk perverts...this is for you. Enjoy.

Corruption Of Peace "Confusion"

RARE LP

**RE-POSTED**

It doesn't get much better than this for early 80's hardcore. They were the only Japanese hardcore punk band in the early 80's with an American singer, atleast that I know of, that pressed an album and was on a Pushead compilation. Corruption Of Peace is, for us here at PNP, a one in a million type record.

With Tadafumi Yamagami (guitar), Tatsuya Goto (bass), Tatsuya Murata (drums) and a one American Kevin Crow to hold down the lead vocals, they create a cacophony of ritualistic American rooted hardcore starting in the sounds of early Washington D.C. all the way cross-country to the sounds of early Portland and Seattle styled punk, interbreeding with the sounds of early classic Japanese hardcore.

This incredible band never got paid their dues, likely due to the band being from Japan and not having many albums pressed and even less here in the states. The band would fall into obscurity for many, but for the some like myself that had the pleasure of growing up with this album, makes putting this album on the blog a memorable moment, like trading tapes back in the 80's as a kid.

Released in 1984 through Tokyo Punks Club Records, this is an elite piece of hardcore history that I don't think anyone would want to miss.

File Under: A must have for any hardcore fan.

The Crowd "Gift Of Life - HBca" EP

Anybody into the whole California hardcore scene knows surf punks The Crowd. But this is an absolute treasure of tracks. 5 songs recorded sometime in the 80's that never made the light of day. I taped this from a test pressing and scanned the label for you. Flex had this to say:

"Don't know the story behind this, but I'm pretty sure this wasn't an official release (no bootleg, either). Five new tracks by the half legendary Posh Boy band; great fast pop punk, and the Buzzcocks cover is cool as well. Good one. [8]."

This is yet another fine reason why this blogsite is here, to share classic real music and everything that is honest and true and integral about its structure. A hard contrast from what some would call music, like the pigs at MTV music awards, let them all die in a ball of fire. Hope you like the tracks.

The Normals "1978 Recordings"

Another classic example of why we ever entered the blog atmosphere. It's a fuckin' crime that these recordings haven't been available to the general public until of recent. Courtesy of Nat Records, they have finally made it available to those who have access and/or finances to obtain a copy. Due to their fine job of releasing this, we will only leave this album up for 24 hours.

So for those of you who have not had a chance to hear this band, you'll hopefully get turned on by this and track down a copy and hopefully promote this great band and label for putting out quality, classic recordings that should've made everyone involved a rich man on the content alone, and not these bourgeoise pig MTV social punks.

Cottage Cheese From The Lips Of Death

A Texas Hardcore Compilation

"Texas is the reason..." In the immortal words of...

This album really displayed what the great old south of the United States of America could produce. From backwoods cowboys and worthless rednecks came a brewing pot of truly sawed off sounds. Bands like the Big Boys, Offenders, Really Red, Butthole Surfers and D.R.I. gave the south a new sound, enough to burn down your parents Freebird collection. A good eccentric compilation of what was happening in Texas at the time. Truly historic stuff.

This CD/LP is a great collection of songs and rare punk. Not a bad track on here and downloadable if for nothing else but The Dogs "Slash Your Face" as well as The Authorities "I Hate Cops".
