VOID "Potion For Bad Dreams"

To one of the greatest Dischord bands to ever surface...VOID were more than a band, they were everything pure about music, the approach, the sound, the attitude and the commitment. I got this copy of the mastertape back in the 80's when we shared the stage together a few times and would trade tapes. We here at PNP have numorous other rare recordings and demos that have never seen the light of day, one of which I put as the 2nd track on this post. It's just an alternate take of the 1st song, sound quality isn't the best but hey, what do you expect it's only 25 years later. Of course this album was never properly released, but I personally love everything VOID ever did if for nothing else but the reason they were a band, not like these cliche revival bands. They were truly original and stand the test of time, there will be no other band to ever do what they did.

For those who know, and for those who knew Sean, this one's for you my friend... Thank you for your friendship and the music. You were one of the few who truly inspire, and your legacy will live on.
R.I.P. Sean.

The Dogs "Bite Back"

LP 1977-1979

We need you! If anyone has any info regarding this post it'd be greatly appreciated, no luck with the album cover so if anybody has a scanned copy of this it would be greatly appreciated since our scanner is once again on the blink. The Dogs 77 lp "Bite Back" is a true punk rock monument record and it's pretty surprising that it's even unknown in the killed by death scene, at least to our knowledge. Obviously this isn't Slaughter and the Dogs, or even the "Bite Back" album that they did under the moniker Slaughter. So don't let it confuse you...this is a full boar, snot covered, tits out, punk rock album and not to be confused with Slaughter and the Dogs.

So I leave you with an incredible album and if anybody has a scan of the cover we would gladly trade you an oki dog this week for a cover today. Support the scene and please give us your stories if any of you have any to share...thank you. File under: Classic '77 snotty PUNK

Fidelity Jones "Piltdown Lad"

Any old punk will tell you that Tomas S. Jones was one of the elite crew that would make up the early Dischord Records clan. Through Beefeater, Fidelity Jones, etc... he would be the forever changing man, all while keeping his unique vocal stylings that are unmatchable to anyone else, especially during the 80's. This 12" came out in '89 and it was Dischord #41. If you're not familiar with any of his work I would highly recommend picking up the Dischord album/cd containing the majority of his work with Beefeater.

Grab this slab for something left of center.

Iggy Pop "Rock Hard"

Once again here's the Godfather of Punk, the ayatollah of rock and rolla. Yet another relentless rockin' gig, listening to any of the Ig-man's recordings leaves you with the overwhelming sense of awe, or at least for myself that is. He is living proof that age has nothing to do with punk rock, and it isn't about the music, it's about the lifestyle. Simple as.

There's only 2 kind of people in the world, people who like Iggy Pop and those who don't... you decide. Details on this recording are below, sound quality is an A+ and ripped at 320 for maximum raw power. Enjoy...

Monitor "Beak/Pet Wedding" 7"

What can be said about this magnificent band and particularly this EP... I was mesmerized as a child by their performance on New Wave Theatre, a Los Angeles television show that was broadcasted late at night in certain markets throughout America. Monitor would go on to inspire many noise merchants and now, lifetimes later, the name itself invokes the sound. Incredibly unique, Monitor mixed elements of no-wave and Orange Country punk. Unfortunately, like many other Californian bands they wouldn't best document most of the bands songs, and were never to be properly released. They did however put out an LP sometime after this single.

The Sins "...Beginning From The End"

The Sins hail from San Diego, California. This album was released in 1986 on Squirtdown Records. I'v never seen this on any blog or even in any store since the day I bought it. This is an incredible band in the vain of most of the Orange County/L.A. bands. To me they have a unique sound that is comparable to the Mortal Micronotz or Social Unrest meets something along the lines of '77 era punk, like the Dead Boys. Overall I think this is a great album for anyone that likes hard-driving punk rock 'n' roll.

Tracklist:

1) Tunnelvision
2) Stupid Teacher
3) In The Red
4) Drink Yourself To Death
5) Drink Yourself To Death (part 2)

Ugly Americans

"Who's Been Sleeping In My Bed"

Once the American hardcore scene got up and going, bands were popping up from all over the place. As the "No Core" compilation tape documented, the Carolina's and surrounding areas were brewing with some inbred, monster truck, sister fucking, twisted hardcore. A lot of bands that made some of the most classic of records in the early 80's would come from this area. One such artist Simon Bob Sinister fronted Death Records 4th release, the almighty Ugly Americans "Who's Been Sleeping In My Bed" and this is a fair documentation of what the band could deliver. However, other recordings (including live) would sometimes outdo this mini LP. If you like C.O.C. "Eye For An Eye" era hardcore then I think this is right up your alley. Check it out and let us know what you think.

Tracklist:

1) In My Bed
2) Mess Me Up
3) Contest + Graveyard Beach
4) Weenie Man (*Hidden Track*)
5) I Love My Mom + Homophobia
6) Buffalo Bill
7) Left In The Dark
