The Birthday Party "Junkyard"

After the Boys Next Door, Nick Cave went straight into one of post-punk's true apocalypse leaders, The Birthday Party. "Junkyard" (w/2 bonus tracks) was one of the pioneers in the noise brigade pack, with the sounds of King Ink's footsteps in the swamp rock, funeral dirge heroin fistfuck catastrophe, that only one band can make and for only so long. And that is why The Birthday Party self-destructed in only a few years. Be sure to check out all other recorded output, studio and live.

Absolutely essential, The Birthday Party stand alone, TO this day.

Tracklist:

1) Blast Off
2) She's Hit
3) Dead Joe
4) Dim Locator
5) Hamlet (Pow, Pow, Pow)
6) Several Sins
7) Big Jesus Trash Can
8) Kiss Me Black
9) 6" Gold Blade
10) Kewpie Doll
11) Junkyard
12) Dead Joe
13) Release The Bats

One of my favorite records by one of my favorite bands. This material is absolutely tops. It sounds even better live, especially on the "Its Still Living" live album. You should put up "Mutiny/The Bad Seed" as well. Vicious record.

Just found this excellent site. My only criticism is that the albums have been uploaded at 192 kbs as opposed to the superior 256 kbs which some sites use. 192 kbs is fine for mp3 players but on hifi is fatiguing under extended listening whereas 256 kbs is virtually indistinguishable from CD.

All time favourite, absolute solid gold headfuck of an album. You will never hear anything like this again.

To the chap above who says "256 kbps is virtually indistinguisable from CD" you must have a really crappy hifi.
