"WE WANNA KILL YOUR MOM!!!"

The Panics "1980-1981: I Wanna Kill My Mom"

These Indiana punks recorded their first single in 1980 while still in high school. Along with that single, there's a bunch of cover songs, a live set which ended up being their last, a rare compilation track, a demo recording from their side project, and a few live tracks from their reunion in 2000. If you don't know The Panics, this is one of the greatest punk singles to ever come out of the 80's, maybe ever out of the U.S....or even the Universe!!!!!

ok maybe just the midwest.......................you decide...

This release is still legitimately for sale through Gulcher Records, their distributors (Get Hip, Revolver, etc) and many indie music stores around the world. It is not very cool to post titles that are still available as it hurts the bands, labels, distributors and stores. You are doing a terrible disservice to many people when you post in-print titles. Maybe just post ONE song and a link to someone selling it. Please stick to posting rare and out of print stuff. You do a great job with that.

Response to the last anonymous comment (sorry my english).

Mr. Anonymous, you could tell me how can a south american guy buy this one?
here it is almost impossible to find this music because the "beloved" music labels do not distribute to the all parts of the world, and if reached, is ridiculously high prices.
I believe that a true punk banda (which has ALL the credit for the creation of this music) do not mind if their music is freely available to all persons, including those who have no way to acquire them.

Try www.gulcherrecords.com

It is cheap, too.

I see that Panics CD used all over the place. I found one in Europe for about $2. Try eBAy or Gemm. They are usually less than $10. Even new they are only about $12. I download stuff, too, but not stuff I can still buy. I agree with the third comment. Support the bands, labels, mailorders and shops. If you download something and like it, BUY IT, TOO!

Try selling more cocaine, Toxik Boy. Then you can buy any record you want.

Jaja, thats a good idea!
probably is the only way to listen North American punk or European punk for someone who lives in the southern hemisphere...

The Yankee does not understand that the reality in the USA is really better than in most countries of the world.
If anyone can buy the music, DO IT!, support the band and their label. If anyone really can't do it, continue to download because the true punk music is for everyone!

Cheers! (and sorry for my bad english)

Everybody likes free stuff, but all of this downloading is killing record stores, labels, distributors and even the bands. If you download something and like it, try your best to buy the record, too. The idea that music should be free is nice but not realistic. Just because you want something doesn't mean you can just take it. Maybe I want your wallet, so I'll just take it. Is that "cool" or "DIY"? I like this site and ones like it because it offers music that is otherwise unobtainable, but I wish the site keepers would be more diligent about NOT posting stuff that is currently available for sale. A good friend of mine who owns what you might think is a LARGE record label had to fire half of his staff because sales are so bad. One of the reasons is downloading. I see records that he just released less than a month ago being given away on blog sites. Please use downloads as a way to sample music. Don't let the download take place of the real thing. Downloaders are killing off labels and bands.

"I believe that a true punk banda (which has ALL the credit for the creation of this music) do not mind if their music is freely available to all persons" what an idiot. how did you come to this conclusion? you have no clue at all how things work. if you´re a farmer and everybody comes and takes your milk cause all true farmers gives away the milk how in the hell is he going to be able to run his farm if no one pays him for his work?

sure bands can now be on myspace only and record at home and skip releasing music cause no one wants to pay for it. THINK! is that what you REALLY want?

On this occasion it may be that happening two probably things. First: my english is really bad and you can't understand my argument. Second, you're a stupid and you dont know to read.
My argument will focus on "is probably the only way to listen North American or European punk punk for someone who lives in the ((((southern hemisphere ...)))!!!" (do you understand?).

Time ago I've participated in a label (la vieja puerca). We help so much to emerging bands from the area (Concepción, Chile) who needs help to edit your music. I know wat i mean :)

I never said that one person shouldn't buy the music. What I said is that those who can't acquire it for reasons such as living in a place where music does not reach, the download links are very valuable. Without a doubt, the farmer would like to get paid as much for the milk, but if he was a "punk farmer" and your milk to create awareness and disseminate ideas of freedom and equality. That farmer would conform with its only cover (?)(sorry for my english) "fixed costs" (costos fijos en español, la traducción de fijo no la se).
The rest would be "economic utility", which comes with capitalist monetary perspective. If you know what you mean, do not forget children: The Punk is not a profession.

PD: sorry for my bad english. I would answer every single thing you say, but my English is so bad that I do not know how to express myself.

Cheers!

As long as you don´t stand by the above argument it´s fine with me.

If I am not allowed to hear a sample of a band's music, I guess I am left to assume that they suck. I am not paying a damn dime for a band that I can't at least hear samples of--especially in this economy. The ZERO BOYS rule Indiana anyway.

Dear Mr. Gulcher guy--TRUE punks (like the ZERO BOYS) don't fucking whine and cry about their music being shared online. In fact, I went to see them a few years back, and they STILL rock! First, I download unknown music and listen to it. If I like it, I buy it. If I don't like it, I DELETE it--it's as simple as that. I am not going to waste space and money on shit I don't like. In case you haven't noticed, the economy SUCKS. That kind of whining and crying bullshit is for commercial wankers like Metallica. I am almost ashamed to say I actually used to buy their CDs back in their better years with Cliff, but I lost a lot of respect for them after the Napster incident. If I really like something I buy it anyway to have the cool liner notes. However, I will now think twice before buying anymore CDs from Gulcher. Perhaps I should mail you a box of Kleenex instead of an order. Then again, maybe I'll consider placing another order with you sometime, if you wipe your tears and straighten up. Geez! You make me feel like a parent.

...I find this discussion rather interesting. As someone to young for being a time-witness/part-of-the-scene guy this blog is a great help and opportunity to get to know those artists and their music and attitude towards life... and of course I'll try and buy the stuff I like most... but: it's the economy that get's hurt by the process of downloading (while I mainly care for the artists), but it's also the economy which sells PCs, CD-Burners, Flatrates etc. which starts the whole process in the first place... so it's not for "the economy" to whince and whine... it's again the whole system which is corrupt, and the smallest (artists) suffer most - but a lot of them don't care as long as someone listens... there should be something like a www "cultural flatrate", so anyone worldwide could participate in those things as music... but that goes with worldwide hunger to: it's hard to share themore you have... thanks for the great blog

You sound just like those people in the 80's who claimed "Home taping is Killing Music". Well, music survived, and downloading won't kill MUSIC either. The reason your label/store/band etc. is not doing well financially in 2009 has more to do with the abundance of crappy records that have piled up and no way to sort through them. People got sick of spending time and money at the record store, flipping through half-assed albums that weren't worth pressing in the first place. Maybe if music wasn't a viable way to make a buck, it would weed out the charltons who are REALLY KILLING MUSIC.
If anything the record industry has killed it's self. In a short 100 years it's turned the heartbeat of humanity into mass produced garbage. We'll enjoy watching it rot!

P.S: www.gulcherrecords.com doesn't work... i can't find any sort of gulcher store on google either, don't blame people for thinking it's out of print.
