From the streets of New Mills, Derbyshire, England, Blitz were an immaculate oi punk band that gained crucial acclaim and championed by the likes of Gary Bushell, Sounds Magazine and the like. "All Out Attack" was their first single released on No Future in 1981, and was a truly stunning release for it's time. Raw, gritty street punk that atonally sounded like no other release. Fringe the noise, boots to straps and skin the head. Pure raw anger for the skin and punk alike.
Bloody years would follow the blitz's career, anthems for the youth. Science and rhythm left estranged, relax when it's all over. So much dead and gone.

Portland pro wrestler Beauregarde released this LP in 1971. It also features guitarist Greg Sage & bassist Dave Kolpel (who went on to be in the Wipers).

Beauregarde enlisted Sage at the tender age of 17 after overhearing him playing guitar for a friend's band in Portland, 1971.

it truly fuking suxxx that they never recorded an lp. The band however did get two John Peel radio sessions. The first, broadcasted 3.4.78, is excellent featuring the stomper Second Time Around (to become Machine Gun Etiquette), Escalator Of Love & Teenage Dream. The second broadcast 25.8.78 featured Shotgun Lovers, Here I Go Again, Junkyard Angels & Detectives.

Currently out of print, this super group was sorely overlooked in the history books. Featuring Stiv Bators backed by Sham69 .

Short lived, never got attention, perfect masterpiece post punk rock 'n' roll!

After the Dead Boys demise,
Stiv went solo and released 2 LP's + singles.
Then came The Wanderers.
Lords of the New Church was soon after.

Punk fans at the time couldn't imagine the results of this band, most definitely they certainly couldn't have foreseen this bladerunner styled concept album about a teenager who stumbles onto an ex-CIA agents tapes all about who really runs world affairs, as Dr. Beter details. Razor sharp guitars, searing torches including acoustic guitars. "No Dreams" lays out an agenda that would loom large in Bator's next band. The rest of the album runs similarly bleak. Without a doubt, "Ready To Snap" is the highlight of the album and is a battle cry to commence the boot boys to teenage war. The sophistication of this work has never been properly honored, seems to have never hit,, bellowing over the heads of many a punk.

This is a true document "of the times" and therefore an essential extraction from the paths of gods we follow!

ANTI formed in 1980 by Gary Kail (guitar) and Danny Phillips (bass) after meeting at a pizza joint in Lawndale, California. They went on to release this LP in 1982 on their own label New Underground Records, recorded at Total Access Studios. This is their first LP, they later went on to release "Defy The System" and "God Can't Bounce", as well as appearing on numerous compilations. Excellent hardcore-era punk of the So-Cal division.

They both went on to be in Mood of Defiance (check their LP here. )

The 101ers "Smokey Joe's Cafe"

The 101ers were formed in May '74, their name came from a squat they inhabited on Walterton Road. Originally called El Huaso, and then the 101 All Stars, which is the name they debuted with in Brixton at the Telegraph Inn in September 1974. After which the next gigs took place at the Charlie Pig Dog Club and Elgin gigs. As well as doing a runner at the Windsor Castle, Hope And Anchor and the Red Cow. They moved onto playing venues, colleges and Universities as well as overseas in Holland and Belgium.

The penultimate gig took place at the Golden Lion on Fulham Road, the gig was free to attend. After the gig Keith Levene and Bernie Rhodes gave Joe 48 hours to decide whether he wanted to
pursue a new band (later to become The Clash) or continue with the 101ers.

Need I say more?

The 101ers last gig was at Clare Halls on June 5th, 1976.

Disc 1: Demos and Outtakes (as well as live tracks) recorded from December '75 on through '76. For anyone who wants more information, do your own bloody research. I type like shit.

Disc 2: Derby Cleopatras, December 12th, 1975.

The 101ers had only really been going for 12 months(ish) at the time of the Cleopatra show. These kind of gigs demanded a lot of songs, often spread over 2 sets. These were the only gigs they could get, they accepted anyway just to be able to play. The roots of R&B were a perfect source for a start of the band, apart from being music the band liked, it was simple. Fine for beginners, where success would depend less on finance and more on energy. They were always writing new stuff, especially when Dan joined in Jan '76. Within 3 months of this gig, more of their own songs came into sets, like "Rabies", "Sweet Revenge", "Keep taking the Tablets" and more.

Canadian punks Lowlife released this, their one and only, 7" in 1979 on Airout Music. It would later be featured on the "Smash The State" compilation. Their bass player Richard Duguay would go on to play in Personality Crisis. (Check out their LP HERE.)

+ also Appeared on G&Rs "The Spaghetti Incident," anndddd toured the globe with Duff McKagan, to now fronting his own band. He has finally released his first solo record, appropriately titled "Gloriously Reckless." His gritty rock n roll is immediately catchy and melodic, and has been described as "The New York Dolls meets The Rolling Stones." These 5 songs take you on a rollercoaster ride of his life...from the opening line of "Good News"... "I feel like hell..." to the closing strains of "Take My Hand"..."Take my hand and we'll walk away..." Duguay nails the hard truths of life as he's lived it...and lived to tell about it.

Originally the Dead Boys evolved out of Rocket From The Tombs in Cleveland, and were first named & brandished "Frankenstein". In '76, the DEaD BoyS were born in NYC + became known from their notorious gigs at clubs like cbgb's .

Stiv Bators died in 1990 after he was hit by a taxi in France, another legend DOWN IN FLAMES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The year after that "Forever Came Today", etc...etc ...etc... and Chris D. lives on to this day spreading the gospel to the protege punks.

He later moved to London to form what became The Electric Chairs. Influenced by the theatre of the ridiculous, they went on to release The Electric Chairs self titled LP in 1978. This LP later got reissued with the title "Blatantly Offenzive" which was also a single they released in 1978.

With songs like "Are you man enough to be a woman?" and the ever classic "Fuck Off", Wayne was among the first transgendered man in punk rock and later changed her name to Jayne County and released a slew of material to this time. A fascinating story that puts your boner in your ass. A truly unique individual, we send kisses to Jayne and remember Wayne, and celebrate his and her work.

Formed in 1980, bloodied +battered drunk ad nauseam collided in the Berkeley, California scene & created Fang who went on to release classics like "Landshark" + "Where the wild things are"...... The band broke up in '89 when Sam McBride was sent to prison for killing his lady. Reborn as Sammytown upon his release in '95, he then reformed Fang with a vengeance and continued their history of success and glory.

Released in '86, the howling wolf screams for his last time before his incarceration on the 4th and final release before hitting the cell. Upon appearing on numerous compilations, Fang continued to release music +spread their black plague punk.

Inspired by seeing bands in '81 like Black Flag, Feederz, The stains, Circle Jerks, they were soon to discover and be inspired by the D.I.Y. ethos of some of the UK's best, Crass, Discharge and the like, as well as their message of the whole anarcho-peace punk scene. Albeit from Sylmar, CA they would go on to release their only single on Flipside Records, #4, in 1985. Interesting choice of songs as "In These Times..." was quite memorable but a long stretch of the sound and vibe of their general direction. Side 2 is that direction they were notorious for. An excellent and sometimes overlooked single.

China White has been on heavy rotation since I first heard 'em. Pre dating the whole crossover and speed metal genres, these O.C. punks made a perfect hybrid of chunky guitars punk rock vocals and classic orange county sound.

One of the originals from the O.C. scene, China White formed in the late 70's, choosing their name based off the name of heroin that killed Darby Crash. After releasing their first ep "Dangerzone" (get it here.)and a couple appearances on some comps, they split in '85. They came back together with a different lineup in '95 and again in 2002 for reunion tours.

This contains 5 songs from the Whiskey A Go Go in '81, 10 tracks from their reunion tour in 2002 and 2 studio demo's from 1979. All of which have never before been released.

Plastic Bertrand (born Roger Allen François Jouret, 24 February 1954, Brussels[1]) is a Belgian musician, songwriter, producer, editor and television presenter, best known for the 1977 international hit single "Ça plane pour" .

In 1973 he entered the Conservatory to study music theory, percussion and music history. Influenced by the punk movement, he created in 1974 the band Hubble BubbLe.
In 1977, Plastic Bertrand started his solo career as the credited artist of the international hit single Ça plane pour moi, though in fact the song had been sung and produced by its composer Lou Deprijck with the engineer Phil delire for RKM/Vogue at Studio Morgan in Brussels. Plastic Bertrand received only 0.5% of the song's royalties. Ca Plane Pour Moi would be further adaptated in English as Jet Boy, Jet Girl by Elton Motello.

Though the next album still contained a bit of that dark religious stuff in the shape of the song Crucified. Their third full length album III Warning was also released in 1984. Solely written by Jay C. Blade, it included such goodies as Crucified and the title track itself. The band were supposed to go on tour as a support act for Venom on their USA and Canada dates, but their American manager somehow fucked it all up. They still played a few gigs around Sweden, though. Their stage act included the vocalist cutting guitars to pieces with the large knife which can be seen in the hands of the vocalist on the front cover of the III Warning album.

Live…Suburbia! is a collection of stories and images of the post-1960s subcultures that define America. It’s kids taking their urethane wheels to empty pools; picking British Punk in broad downstrokes and creating Hardcore. Live…Suburbia! is dedicated to denim devils twirling butterfly knives and hasty tags thrown down with Rust-Oleum touch-up paint stolen from your parent’s garage.

Documenting American subculture through images and anecdotes, from the juvenile KISS Army in oil-based face paint to the year punk broke, Live… Suburbia! celebrates the evolution of the teenage explorer. Rushing through years packed with ninjas, spike gauntlets, BMX dirt jumps, seven-ply skateboards, bathroom mohawks, skinheads, the straight edge, basement DJs, graffiti murals behind supermarkets, we finally arrive in the 1990s where it all collides.

Many have contributed to the highlight reel of restless youth and disposable landscapes, with Foreword by The Hold Steady’s Craig Finn and photographs from JJ Gonson, Gail Rush, Rusty Moore, Michael Galinsky, Theresa Kelliher, Ryan Murphy, Justine Demetrick, Casey Chaos, Eva Talmadge and London May and dozens more discovered along the road.

The Electric Eels were the original anti music heroes. Formed 1972 in Cleveland, they lasted 3 years & played only around half a dozen gigs.

Providing visual defamation was peroxide haired party punk John Morton with his violence onstage at himself, the band, and the audience. Morton, originally drawn to art, wanted the excitement of performing. Heylin said::::: 'From the Velvets to the Voidoids' :::: "Their roots...led them to deconstruct rock'n'roll, retaining only the noise element, the polemical nature of the rock lyric and the confrontational aspect of the live performance."

One gig had John Morton and Dave'E'Macmanus being arrested for being drunk and disorderly. One wearing a coat strung together with safety pins & the other covered in rat traps. Morton's hand was broken in the arrest. The next gig he had various tools strapped to his cast and proceeded to beat the shit out of a sheet of metal with a sledgehammer.

These tapes were made using an assortment of junk PA equipment and a low end home cassette deck. No compromises to the recording process would be made and the band played deafeningly loud as always.

On page 4 of the stencilled cover/booklet, with lyrics for Irah's song Morte Da Stato, my copy has a piece of stenciled paper STAPLED to it that reads " ATTACK PUNK RECORDS, without applying any kind of censorship expresses his complete disagreement with the contents of the "IRAH" page, page written off a long time after the vinyl pressing. PUNX AGAINST THE SYSTEM. AND SKINS....".
The logo on one of the labels is a paint monoprint.

Disorderly Conduct was a great band from the Melbourne area that not many people remember today. But in their time, they were one of the best and most popular bands in the state, frequently opening for bigger touring bands, like Fear, Circle Jerks, Bad Brains, Government Issue, Toxic Reasons, etc, etc, etc... The band, featuring F guitarist U.S. Ken Decter, played a hybrid of hardcore and metal, without being speed metal. They really had an original sound, wrote great songs and were ace musicians. Casey Chaos' vocal style and lyrical arrangements have been a big influence on me. Disorderly Conduct made their vinyl debut with one song, "How Old Are You?," on "Flipside Vinyl Fanzine Vol. 2." This song is a real thrasher, with a couple of slow, tense breakdown parts. I think this song is a good representation of what the band was like live. Another Disorderly Conduct song, "Rock Bottom," appears on the 1986 compilation LP, "There's A Method To Our Madness," on Phantom Records, an Alaskan label. In 1986, Casey released the full length recording, "Amen," on LP and cassette. The name he chose for his label was Dirge Records, the only release by the label. "Amen" is a hefty album, packed with powerful songs and very few lulls, although a couple of tracks get a little indulgent. The opening track, "Crawl Down Inside Of Me," is the strongest moment, with a pulsing wall of guitar and a long, anguished vocal wail. I don't know how many copies of "Amen" were made, but the album had great distribution, at least within Florida. For a few years, you could find it in almost any record store in the state, even big chain stores. Until fairly recently, still-sealed copies popped up from time to time.

henry rollins and casey chaos 20 or so years later on the henry rollins show on IFC.

Shortly after the release of "Amen," Casey thought the next logical step would be to move the band to California. Decter went with him, but drummer Bill Erwin and bassist Scot Lade stayed in Florida. Lade told me, "I haven't talked to Casey since the day they left." In California, Casey started a band called Amen, which is still active today. Lade was the manager of Record Bar, a chain music store in Ft. Pierce's Orange Blossom Mall. He used his managerial position to stock the store with great hardcore releases from around the world. In fact it was Scot who suggested the Dead Kennedy's "Fresh Fruit For Rotting Vegetables" LP as my first punk rock purchase. On other visits, Scot suggested The Crucifucks, Die Kreuzen, "Flex Your Head," and many more. I'm really thankful that Scot pushed me in the right direction when he could have just pushed me away. Lade was pretty active in the scene and put on several shows at clubs and rented halls, including a five band blowout at the Sons Of Italy Hall in Stuart, my hometown. That was the biggest punk show Stuart has ever seen and probably will never be topped.

These are the demos between the era of Disorderly Conduct to Amen. Casey Chaos and Ken Decter moved out to California from Florida to pursue the American dream. So it would only make sense that Casey would break up the band, having record label deals from Enigma Records and a few others. Ken got married. Ken has babies. Casey went on to work with RikK Agnew, which would later progress into Casey playing bass with Christian Death alongside Rozz Williams and the original lineup. On his downtime he would work on a band called Amen that Iggy Pop described as "metallic punks". Iggy Pop even pre-mixed their first album. Nuff Said. These demos have never been released and are a true document to anyone that cares. Chaos also sang for the Damned in 2006.

Pete and Franz Stahl are living legends that only unfortunately a handful of people know, but those that do are luckier than those who don't. Their music with Scream was revolutionary to the hardcore scene, and with Wool they carried the torch nicely for good time rock 'n' roll. With elements of punk and even metallic at times, the true essence of Scream and the integrity of spirit shine through on Wool's "Budspawn" relased 1992.

Formed in 1977 and fronted by powerhouse Penelope Houston, the Avengers were only around for a couple years. She continued on with her solo career before reuniting in 2004 with the Avengers. This is one of the records I got from Zed Records, via glorious postal service in the holy days of punk rock. Released in '79 (few months after they broke up) and produced by Steve Jones.
